Multi-Objective Optimization of Integrated Solar-Driven CO2 Capture System for an Industrial Building

Industrial CO2 emission, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total is “hard-to-abate” emission sector, owing to longstanding challenge in reducing while not sacrificing industry economics. Herein, this research proposes an integrated solar-driven capture system application industrial buildings decarbonize factories’ CO2-rich exhaust gas generated from workers or manufacturing processes, and further conducts multi-objective optimization based on NSGA-II algorithm. By setting system’s performances, including captured mass, net levelized cost-profit, electricity, exergy efficiency, as constrained multi-objectives, effects working parameters them are disentangled articulated concerning energy-mass balance principles. Research demonstrates that mass mainly depends solar radiation sorbent cost efficiency input. For capturing light-CO2-intensity factory with partial pressure 1000 Pa by using 6.0 tons Zeolite 13X, capacity 0.79 mol/kg, 128.4 USD/ton, 5–10% can be achieved. Furthermore, sensitivity scenario analysis conducted demonstrate stability feasibility. Overall, work provides comprehensive objective-oriented guidance policymakers owners paves way greening ever-increasing needs.
